Developing Practice Bursaries Round 3 – change in bursary amount
Developing Practice Bursaries are for artists, producers, curators and dance sector professionals who are based in Birmingham or the West Midlands (Black Country, Coventry, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire) and are developing their career and delivering or presenting work in the region.
We are keen to support those who would not otherwise have the opportunity to access professional development and/or experience work that will impact on their future practice.
If you would like to develop your creative practice, we offer a bursary of £1500.
In addition, there are also other organisations who can support you:
- If you’re looking for bursaries for a higher amount, the Arts Council England offer a ‘Develop your creative practice fund’: https://www.artscouncil.org.uk/DYCP
- The Jerwood Foundation also offer smaller micro bursaries https://www.jerwoodcharitablefoundation.org/projects/performing-arts-micro-bursaries/
Our Developing Practice bursaries will open in the Autumn.
Artistic Commissions Review
We created artistic commissions for dance artists as a CPD opportunity to produce innovative artistic practices and celebrate Birmingham.
In the past, Artistic Commissions have been open to all. We’re currently revisiting our criteria to increase the breadth of artists who access this fund.
There will still be an open opportunity for people to apply, however, we will be focusing more on other strands and to see how we become more accessible to these genres. The criteria for the other stands are still to be confirmed, however, we expect to focus on South Asian dance, Hip Hop and dances of the African diaspora and Disability, Inclusive and Integrated Dance.
More details will follow about both of these initiatives. Sign up to our newsletter and follow us on social media to keep up to date about further announcements.
