*Exclusively for members of the Inclusive Network
As part of our Inclusive Network programme and the ‘Space Invaders’ strand of activities around skills, jobs and opportunities, this CPD offering will be a visit to A New Direction, an award-winning not-for-profit organisation that generates opportunities for children and young people to develop their creativity. They have kindly offered to host us for the day at the Good Growth Hub - their base arising from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park where we will hear presentations from the senior leaders of the team and learn more about their programmes, partnerships and networks and their innovative approach to engagement and training with young people.
What to Expect
The day visit with A New Direction will hosted by Oliver Benjamin, Director of Employment and Skills who will provide insight and background to their work with a focus on knowledge sharing including imparting models that ‘work’.
Oliver was part of a small group which set up A New Direction as a charity in 2008 and has since explored and developed pathways to work within the creative sector. He will speak about the evolution of employment focus within the organisation.
Throughout the day, Oliver will bring in work colleagues and associates including:
Leila Jassal and Jordan Reilly, Programme Officers, leading on outreach and engagement. They will discuss the interface and support of young people.
Adelaide Lumor, Programmes Manager, leading their freelance entrant support programme.
Luke Lamontagne-Dwyer and Jo Lacey - Senior Programme Managers, with oversight of partnerships, monitoring and evaluation.
Following internal sharing, Oliver will lead a tour of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park including visits to Here East and East Bank organisations.

About A New Direction
A New Direction is an award-winning not-for-profit organisation generating opportunities for children and young people to develop their creativity. The charity works with arts, cultural and creative organisations in London to support and develop their approaches to working with and for children and young people.
Within the frame of employment and skills, A New Direction supports, develops and connects young people to opportunities and employment within the cultural sector and creative industries.
A New Direction is based within the Good Growth Hub in Hackney Wick and is the lead operator of the programme. The Good Growth Hub is a place for young people (aged 18-30) based in East London to access training, experience, and employment opportunities in the cultural, creative, and digital technology sectors with employers based in and around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The programme widens access to these opportunities to those living in the community and supports businesses to prosper thanks to the capability and ambition of local people.
